Building A Traditional Bluegrass Break (Long Journey Home)

Many beginner and intermediate mandolin players learn to play fiddle tunes and can strum chords fairly well. However, they are often unsure of how to approach an instrumental break in a bluegrass song. By using the simple method shown in this set of videos, you will be able to construct great traditional-sounding mandolin breaks. This method is demonstrated with the classic bluegrass song, “Long Journey Home,” but can be applied to many standard bluegrass songs.
