Rhythm is an often overlooked part of mandolin playing. Of course, a melody allows the mandolin to truly shine. But let's face it: the singer gets the melody, and most songs have words. In most jam sessions, instrumentals only comprise 10-20% of the music being played, and even during instrumentals, we spend most of our time playing rhythm.
